About Rachel

Rachel Swanson was born in Omaha Nebraska and attends The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She expects to graduate in the Fall of 2012. The work that she makes is centered on “the other” be it Queerness, femininity, fantasy, or radical political views. It takes the form of fiber sculpture, puppets, screenplays, and comics.  Her work has been published and shown in several spaces including online at Flashesinthedark.com, the “Unladylike” Anthology, issue 3 of “Subtext”, “No Sleep Till Comics” show at Ox-Bow, “In the Gutter” show at the RHE Galleries, and in the Spring BFA show 2012. Swanson also self publishes comics and zines that are currently for sale in Quimby’s, Chicago Comics, and Third Coast Comics in Chicago.
